Celebrating Easter @ CFNW
Next week, we will stop several times to remember the central moments of our Christian faith. God the Son, who took on flesh in becoming a man, was crucified, buried, and then by the Father's power resurrected from the grave. These are real, historical events on which all of Christianity stands. If they did not occur, we have no reason to think we will ever experience resurrection.
Thank God! We can gather next week to celebrate, for we have great reason and confidence that Jesus has indeed risen! (See I Cor. 15:1-11)
John Stott, The Cross of Christ, p. 231
"We are not to regard the cross as defeat and the resurrection as victory. Rather, the cross was the victory won, and the resurrection the victory endorsed, proclaimed and demonstrated. 'It was impossible for death to keep its hold on him,' because death had already been defeated. The evil principalities and powers, which had been deprived of their weapons and their dignity at the cross, were now in consequence put under his feet and made subject to him."
Easter Week Activities
Maundy Thursday (April 2 | 5:30-6:00 PM)
In this brief time together, we will somberly reflect on the betrayal of Christ and share in the first Lord’s Supper of Holy Week together as a congregation. We will pray, reflect, and observe the Lord's Supper.
Good Friday (April 3 | 5:30-6:30 PM)
This one-hour gathering will be a meaningful time to pause, reflect, and remember the sacrifice of Jesus while anticipating the celebration of his resurrection on Easter Sunday. We will spend the vast majority of the time singing and reading Scripture. All children will join us for the service. We love children and enjoy having them with us.
Easter Sunday (April 5 | 10:00 AM)
Easter Morning we will gather at CFNW to celebrate the resurrection and the blessed hope given to those who believe. Come early to join us for breakfast as we gather to celebrate an empty tomb! A homemade breakfast will be ready at 9:00 AM, and the service begins at 10:00 AM.
We pray that God uses our time together to increase our love and affection for the one who died and rose on our behalf!
Easter Sunday is Coming!
