Before the Word: Tim Keller | Work Wholeheartedly

This week’s Before the Word episode was not able to be recorded as planned, but we still want to serve you well as we look ahead to Sunday’s sermon on “The Worker Who Fears the LORD.” Our desire in this weekly resource is to help our church prepare to hear God’s Word with attentiveness and to think biblically about the everyday rhythms of life that Scripture speaks into so clearly.

Because of that, instead of our usual conversation, we are sharing a sermon from Tim Keller titled “Work Wholeheartedly.” In this message, Keller helps us consider how the gospel reshapes our understanding of work, calling, and daily labor. Rather than seeing work as merely a burden to endure or a means of self-fulfillment, Scripture teaches us to view it as a sphere of faithfulness under the lordship of Christ.

We believe this teaching will pair well with Sunday’s passage in Proverbs, which addresses diligence, laziness, integrity, and wisdom in our work. It is our prayer that as you listen, you would be encouraged to see your daily labor (whether at home, in the workplace, or in ordinary responsibilities) as part of your life lived before the face of God.

We hope this resource helps you come to Sunday ready to listen, learn, and grow in the fear of the LORD as it shapes every part of life, including your work.
